Downton Abbey

Maggie Smith as the Dowager Countess of Grantham in Masterpiece Classic's Downton Abbey:

"She reads too many novels."

"We'll have to take her abroad. In these moments, you can normally find an Italian who isn't too picky."

Lady Sybil: "Why Granny, you're a romantic!" - Dowager Countess: "I've been called many things, but not that."

"I was right about my maid. She's leaving. To get married. How can she be so selfish?"

"First electricity and now telephones. Sometimes I feel as if I were living in an H. G. Wells novel."

"I hate Greek drama, you know when everything happens off stage."
